The social responsibility of The University of Benghazi: solidarity and commitment.
The University of Benghazi is exerting efforts on various fronts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Faculty members are participating in the main and sub-committees formed to contain this pandemic. Additionally, students and university staff are involved in sanitizing many service sites, public institutions, and entrances. Moreover, the university’s media entities have been engaged in raising awareness about the dangers of this pandemic and have established programs to compensate for the loss in the educational process.
Amid these efforts to face this crisis responsibly, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Benghazi has contributed since the outbreak began by providing a PCR device, necessary for detecting the coronavirus, along with the required storage to protect the device. Dr. Azzeddin Aldarsi, the president of the University of Benghazi, praised the efficiency of the doctors, faculty members, and all staff at the university. He extended his gratitude and appreciation to all medical and administrative personnel in the university hospitals of various specialties. They are ready to work diligently to combat the coronavirus.
Dr. Aldarsi specifically mentioned the Supreme Medical Advisory Committee and its sub-committees in the fight against this pandemic, most of which are composed of faculty members from medical colleges.
Dr. Aldarsi also commended the efforts made to continue the educational process and to find alternatives to facilitate students’ academic achievement. Many faculties have initiated distance learning programs by coordinating between faculty members and deans. These programs take into account the available resources and capabilities to ensure their success.
