The Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Management at Benghazi University organized a workshop titled: “Development of Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journals at Benghazi University” in October 2016. The workshop started at 9:00 AM at the main conference hall at Gulf Company, as part of the university’s collaboration with community institutions to enhance its performance in achieving its scientific knowledge production and dissemination missions.
The Director and the Quality Office team at the university were determined to organize and hold this workshop.
The workshop was attended by a group of experts in scientific publishing and the development of scientific journals from Benghazi University and Tobruk University. The participants presented topics related to scientific publishing, the criteria for internationally classified scientific journals, and the importance of impact factors in journal classification.
The workshop was attended by the University President, Dr. Mourad El Magrabi, the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Fadel Shaban Atrina, and the Director of the Quality Management Office, Dr. Azeddine Aldersi.
The workshop targeted the heads and members of the editorial boards of peer-reviewed scientific journals at Benghazi University, which at the time comprised 12 scientific journals from various scientific faculties.
The valuable discussions and comments of the attendees enriched the workshop’s topics. Their suggestions regarding overcoming the obstacles that hinder the quality performance of the editorial boards of scientific journals contributed to the success of the workshop.
The workshop resulted in recommendations to enhance the quality of scientific publishing, aiming to elevate Benghazi University’s scientific journals to the ranks of internationally classified scientific journals, acquiring international classification numbers and achieving high impact factors.
