Reviewing the academic schedule for the anticipated resumption of classes at the university on May 31, 2020.

2020-05-22

Dr. Abdul Karim Abdullah Al-Ghazali, the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs at the university, and Dr. Fatima Al-Falah, the Director of the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Office at the university, held four consecutive meetings over three days starting from Tuesday, May 19, 2020, to Thursday, May 21, 2020. They met with the respected Deans of the scientific faculties and their branches, each specializing in specific disciplines (medical faculties, humanities faculties, applied faculties). The purpose of these meetings was to discuss the academic plans for the resumption of studies on May 31, 2020. The discussions focused on ensuring that these plans meet the quality standards of the educational process and its outcomes, taking into account compensating for the suspension period imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. They also considered the timeline of the academic courses, in line with their academic programs and educational objectives, as well as the student’s circumstances, and ensuring the maintenance of their academic performance.

During the meetings, the colleges’ problems and deficiencies in material and human resources were addressed. These deficiencies negatively impact the quality of the educational process and hinder the colleges from meeting the minimum standards and quality requirements, especially in light of the challenges posed by the current crisis and the need to continue the educational process during the summer period, in addition to the university’s infrastructure conditions after the destruction it suffered in the past years. These needs and requirements will be communicated to the university president for an urgent meeting to discuss this report and take appropriate preemptive measures to ensure the smooth operation of the educational process.

Both the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and the Director of the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Office expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to the esteemed Deans of the faculties for their dedication, diligence, and commitment to attending the meetings, despite some having to endure the inconvenience of travel. Their commitment reflects their dedication to their administrative and academic responsibilities towards their students, their university, and their community. They expressed gratitude to the honorable Deans of the faculties and their scientific councils.

Regarding the faculties in remote areas such as ALwahat and Al-Kufra, their suffering and the distance were acknowledged, and a preliminary copy of the report will be sent to them for their feedback and discussion over the phone. As for the faculties whose Deans were absent from the meetings, they were urged to urgently communicate with Dr. Fatima Al-Falah, the Director of the Quality Assurance Office, due to the importance of the matter. May God protect you all, and may you all have a blessed Eid.
